We’re having trouble with our video explaining our sweet news, so, I wanted to go ahead and type it out so you guys can know what’s going on! We were invited back on warped tour and we decided we’re going to take up the offer. You see, when SKAD first started, the Lord gave me a vision that Warped tour would be one of the ways we did ministry; that we’d be out there, loving on kids and building relationships with them. Well, itcame to pass this summer and we had the opportunity to go out for three days and boy was it awesome. The first date was cool, because it was Dallas and we’re familiar with a lot of people in that area, so that was awesome. The next date was somewhat discouraging to be completely honest. Every time I went away from our table to pass out flyers, kids would throw them on the ground or roll their eyes when I said “positive lifestyles.” It was disheartening. I even saw kids walking around smoking joints, yet it didn’t shock me too much because a lot of teens these days, live their lives in darkness like that. Anyway, at the end of the day when our team was packing up, we were putting stuff in my car and a friend of mine, who is a musician on Warped tour, came up to me and started explaining some struggles he was having; with different forms of temptation and I had the PRIVILEGE of being able to pray with him and just encourage him. It was amazing. Right when I got in the car, I looked at the girls with me and said “Any discouragement I had about today being nonproductive is now out the window.” The way I see it is if we were able to reach out and encourage one person, & it was him, that is all that mattered and we were able to do that. It was exciting!! The next day we were super stoked to get to San Antonio because we always have a good time there and right when gates opened, we were talking to kids left and right. When we went into it, our hearts were just focused on showing love and building relationships, not to force Jesus into every conversation we had, but God opened the door so many times for us to just share the gospel, because kids were asking us questions left and right. It was amazing! At the end of a long day, the person who heads up the non-profit area came up to our booth and said that if we wanted to jump on any more dates, we could because “they had room for people who knew what they were doing.” Right then and there, I just felt so blessed; God was using us to make a difference in a place like this! When we were done with Warped, we went to Cornerstone in Illinois and it was so awesome. We had a great experience there and made so many new friends. One interesting thing that happened was when I was having a discussion with another person who ran a non-profit and they were telling us how their application was denied from Warped tour because they were a ministry. I left that conversation feeling really blessed and it totally confirmed the fact that the Lord has shown us favor in letting us be apart of something like this.
Anyway, we are looking forward to getting back out there and spreading love and hope to the kids we encounter, be the hands and feet of Christ by building relationships with kids, and being the light in the darkness. In fact, I do believe we were the only Christian organization out there and what an honor it was. My heart is to just get out there and make ourselves available to anyone who needs a friend, wants someone to talk to, and just have a good time making new friends. This is our mission field. We don’t have to go outside of our country to find hurting people, we want to go from city to city in our own nation and love on some broken kids who may potentially be your neighbors.
More than anything, I don’t like asking for help; mainly because it’s hard to swallow your pride and do so, however we can’t do anything in our lives without reaching up and asking for a helping hand and that’s exactly what I’m doing right now. Between Warped tour and taking some of our SKAD kids to Cornerstone in Illinois, we have ran out of funds. We also ran out of shirts. When we got to Illinois, we had exactly what we needed to pay for food, tickets, etc, and then while we were there, God provided us enough money through the selling of our shirts, to have gas money to get home and pay the extra fees we had for the van. So, here I am having to ask you all for help. We feel passionately about getting back out there on Warped and being able to minister to those we come in contact with, by serving their needs in which ever way we can, so we need you to make it possible. We ran out of shirts, so we need funds (in the next ten days) to be able to print some more shirts, so we can sell them while we’re on the road for two weeks, in order to make gas money to get from place to place. We’ll be sleeping in my car, during the long drives at night, so we won’t have to worry about hotel fees or anything like that, it’s simply the gas money to get to and from and the ability to allow kids to walk away from the table with someone to help promote the cause in their city. So we’re asking for each of you, who feel led to give, to please do so. To help fund our mission trip on Vans Warped tour this summer. Even if it’s a dollar or .50, anything would help us. All of your donations are tax deductible, because we are a recognized 501c3. So please pray about how you could help us make this possible and remember that we have to have our funds asap so we can allot time to get our shirts printed!
Thank you guys for taking the time to read this, I hope you made it all the way through and now know how you can help us further our mission by praying for us and potentially helping support us. Thanks for the love you’ve consistently given, we’re always grateful for you guys and for believing in the message that Christ has laid on our hearts.
